Once the evaluation of cardio machines is complete, you should have in mind which unit works best for you in order to reach your desired cardio goals. Below are examples of the most common cardio vascular equipment used by the vast majority of human beings world wide.

Recumbent Bike

Recumbent Bike

Recumbent bikes cause the least burning calorie output, and that is due to it’s position; the body’s focus is merely on lower use, and your back is pressed up against a supporting platform. Sometimes the supporting chair reclines giving the user a greater degree of relaxation and little pressure especially in the lumber area. Arms/hands are not in motion so less output is generated. Often the older community gravitate to this unit and is often best suited. However, many of us that have been in a trauma or accident utilize these during the recovery process.

Upright Bike

Upright bikes differ from that of recumbent bikes in that there is no laid back option or lower back support system; in fact, uprights, are the closest resemblance to those of regular outside or cycle bikes; if you would like to burn more calories, but dislike the recumbent style, an upright might be the right choice.

Rower

Rower

As with ellipticals, rowers are also low impact, and users can enjoy burning fat while working practically the entire upper and lower body.

Elliptical

Elliptical

Unlike Recumbent and Upright Bikes, ellipticals involve the upper body and some ellipticals even have an incline feature to prolong your strides resulting in extra calories burned while still being a great source to avoid impacts on your kneews, hips and joints.

Treadmill

Treadmill

Although treadmills are one of the highest impact cardio mechanism you can find, it can work to your advantage if you simply walk on it as opposed to running. The trouble with running is the negative effects it can have on the body.
